Opioid Dependence Treatment

Opioid dependence is a complex medical condition, not a moral failing or a lack of willpower. If you or someone you love is struggling with dependence on prescription painkillers, heroin, or other opioids, Advanced Practice Mental Health Associates in Oklahoma City offers compassionate, evidence-based treatment in a judgment-free environment. You don't have to white-knuckle your way through recovery alone. Effective help is available, especially as Oklahoma is facing an Opioid and Kratom crisis.

Opioid dependence occurs when the brain adapts to the presence of opioids over time, making it increasingly difficult to function without them. It can develop from prescription opioid use following an injury or surgery, or from recreational use — and it affects people from every background, profession, and walk of life. Oklahoma has been significantly impacted by the opioid crisis, and we are here to be part of the solution for our community.

Signs you or a loved one may need support

  • Using opioids in larger amounts or for longer than intended

  • Unsuccessful attempts to cut down or stop use

  • Spending significant time obtaining, using, or recovering from opioids

  • Strong cravings or urges to use

  • Continuing to use despite negative consequences at work, home, or in relationships

  • Experiencing withdrawal symptoms when reducing or stopping use

Our approach to treatment

We provide psychiatric medication management and addiction medicine support for patients with opioid dependence. Treatment may include medications that reduce cravings, ease withdrawal symptoms, and lower the risk of relapse — combined with patient education and a collaborative care plan tailored to your goals and your life.

Our provider Kerri Bryan, PA-C, CAQ-Psych, specializes in and brings more than 25 years of clinical experience to opioid dependence treatment. She takes a patient-centered, non-judgmental approach that focuses on sustainable recovery and long-term wellbeing — not just short-term stabilization.
